Content Workflows

Building powerful content workflows

The core flexibility of BGN Elements comes from its content pipeline builder, a powerful workflow system for the simultaneous processing and merging of connected sources and distribution of them to a range of destinations

  • Advanced media pipelines

Content pipelines in BGN Elements support many industry-standard media processes, including:

    • multi-version GPU-enabled media transcoding (H264, HEVC/H265, etc.) for adaptive bitrate streaming

    • comprehensive audio support (AAC, AES-64 etc.)

    • multiple simultaneous outputs per stream e.g. recording to file while also streaming via HTTP and SDI

  • Content distribution

In addition to consuming standard broadcast sources such as SDI, BGN Elements can also output to existing broadcast IT networks to provide low-latency, high-quality streams ready for live or replay broadcasts.

BGN Elements also natively supports HTTP-based output streams (Apple HLS, MPEG-DASH) for delivery to consumer-scale web clients and content delivery networks such as Amazon Cloudfront and Akamai. BGN Elements HTTP streams also provide in-band timing metadata for frame-accurate content delivery.

  • Flexible content workflows

BGN Elements provides many ways to produce unique content, for example:

    • Combine multiple independent audio sources with a single video source to produce new content streams

    • Add high-frequency telemetry JSON data to an existing vehicle onboard video stream with frame-level accuracy

    • Produce replay streams from source files with frame-accurate control of playout via the BGN Elements API
